Summit Custom Homes is committed to a higher standard. The company backs up their energy-efficiency claims with an independent energy audit by a HERS certified inspector. The average Summit HERS score in 2012 was a 70, meaning that their homes are about 30% more efficient than homes built to the energy code standard being used in 2012. “A more efficient home means lower utility bills for our homeowners, and less environmental impact,” commented Stucker.

Summit is creating healthier indoor environments by incorporating the use of formaldehyde -free insulation products; low or no V.O.C. (Volatile Organic Compound) paints, glue, sealants where available; a passive radon remediation system; Shaw “Green Edge” carpeting; a MERV-11 high particulate furnace filter; a centralized return air system; and more. “We’re keenly aware that our homebuyers are more focused than ever before on their health and well-being, so we design and build our homes to address those concerns head on,” added Stucker.

The building experience is another thing that sets Summit apart. “All of our plans are designed for the way today’s families want to live with features such as bedroom level laundry rooms, mud benches off the garage, open floor plans, designer island kitchens, spa master bathrooms with tiled floors and showers with dual shower heads and more,” said Megan Fratzke, marketing manager for Summit Custom Homes.

“In addition, all throughout the building process, our homeowners work together with a dedicated homeowner care specialist to guide them through the process, answer questions, and help with selections,” she added. After the closing, homebuyers enjoy the peace of mind knowing that their investment is not only covered by a one-year comprehensive written new home warranty, but also by two years of coverage on the home’s mechanical systems and a full ten years of insurance-backed and transferrable coverage on the homes foundation and structural framing. “Very few homebuilders offer coverage that rich,” added Fratzke.
